eFuel100 Launches Unique Ethanol Production Device

Earlier this month, E-Fuel corporation (no affiliation to this blog), launched an ethanol production device that allows consumers to produce their own ethanol.

The eFuel100 Micro Fueler utilizes sugar, yeast and water to produce up to 35 gallons of ethanol a week. The company claims a gallon of ethanol can be produced for less than $1.00 per gallon. In addition, the eFuel100 Micro Fueler can utilize discarded beer, wine and liquor as main ingredients to reduce the production costs $0.10 and increase output to 70 gallons of ethanol a week.

E-Fuel plans to begin shipments of its fueler during the fourth quarter 2008. Initial MSRP in the United States is $9,995.

It will be interesting to see if the economics for the eFuel100 Micro Fueler are favorable enough to drive significant adoption.
